Paradox - Budapest Jewelry Week 2022

The theme for 2022 is PARADOX.

FREEDOM - OBSERVATION - SELF-EXPLOITATION - BURN-OUT - YOLO - PRUDERY - SEXUAL FREEDOOM - GLOBAL - LOCAL

Our everyday life is full of contradictory facts, events, perceptions, coexisting at the same time and place. How can we handle these mind blowing and sometimes devastating paradoxes, and how do we reflect on them with the means of art?
Do walls become floors once observed from a different angle? Can a staircase become endless to climb while walking on it?
Will the ship remain the same when each and every part is changed one by one?
Do humans stay the same if the majority of the body’s cells replace themselves every 7 to 10 years?

For this theme I chose a jewel from the Chimera collection. A Chimera is a creature that is terrible and fascinating, part lion, part goat and part snake. Today, she symbolizes the utopia, the bizarre and the illusory. But someone chimeric is also a thinker that uses folly to feed ingenuity, someone who can see things from a different point of view, free from the need to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. In these jewels classic elements are reinterpreted in a composition of unexpected unions that stem from a fearless exploration among delusions and mirages.
